GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A state division that inspects business practices announced it has collected fines from a Pitt County store for price-scanning errors.
The Standards Division checks on the accuracy of prices advertised and what rings up at the register. Penalties are only issued if a store fails a follow-up inspection.
The division said that is what happened to the Dollar General store at 4085 Dickinson Avenue in Greenville. It paid out $2,427.50 in civil penalties. The state said it failed an inspection in June with an error rate of 8 percent. In August, the error rate was 3.33 percent. In October, the error rate was 2.67 percent.
The store passed its inspection in December.
