GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Pitt County is looking at adding body cameras to deputies.
Officials are heading to Charlotte to moderate a talk with county commissioners from across the nation on body cameras. Their main question is how they will implement them, and what the policy is.
Glen Webb with Pitt County Board of Commissioners says it’s a long process but once completed, but it will be good for the county. He says keeping the images stored would be the hardest part.
“You have to have someone as a custodian of those records, you have to have a place to store them and videos have a massive amount of data, and that data has to be stored managed and secured for court purposes or just evidence review for our cases,” says Glen Webb.
Webb says if the county gets body cameras. They would have to hire extra staff to keep up with the maintenance.
