Police, business leaders host crime prevention session for hotels


JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Police and local business leaders are teaming up to educate hotel owners and employees about crime prevention and security.

Jacksonville Police Department and the Jacksonville Onslow Chamber of Commerce are partnering to provide a Crime Prevention and Security Seminar designed specifically for hotels.

The program is free and open to Chamber members and non-members.

It will be held on Thursday, June 23th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Commerce Center, located at 1099 Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville.

Officers from JPD’s Community Policing Division will provide crime prevention information and security designed especially for hotels.

“It is our goal to provide the necessary crime prevention information to improve the security for our hotels to prevent crimes from occurring.  We want to partner with our hotels to make them as safe as possible. ” said Chief Mike Yaniero, Director of Public Safety.

“The Chamber considers this type of crime prevention session vital to our members and to all hotels in our community.” said Laurette Leagon, President, Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce.
