NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT)- New Bern Police have released the names of the two men who died in a head on collision in New Bern Saturday night.
Officers with the New Bern Police Department responded to the 3900 block of M.L. King Jr. Blvd. at 5:00 p.m.
Police say 23-year-old Tyler Jones of Trent Woods was traveling south on M.L. King Jr. Blvd when his 2012 Nissan Altima crossed the grassy median and began traveling south in the north bound lane. Paul Hurley, 64, of River Bend was traveling north on M.L. King Jr. Blvd. when his 2013 Ford Focus was struck head on by Tyler Jones’s vehicle.
Tyler Jones was pronounced dead on the scene and Paul Hurley was transported to Carolina East Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
The New Bern Police Department’s investigation of this crash is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this accident can contact Traffic Investigator, MPO III William Zerby at 633-2022.
Police say traffic was diverted for more than four hours. The road reopened around 9:30 Saturday night.
