In Kinston, the design work for Queen Street is nearing completion. Tonight the city council is meeting to discuss the project budget for the street’s redesign.
Queen Street water and sewer improvements are completed. Now the city is working on the next phase of its project, to give the street a more aesthetic look.
The city planning department originally asked for $7 million in funds. They are now asking the council to put $2.3 million dollars towards the design. That money will come from the general fund reserves that were originally set aside for the project.
By the beginning of the New Year, Queen Street could be lined with new trees, lights, concrete crosswalks and brick pavers.
