Registered sex offender charged with new sex crimes

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — An Onslow County man was arrested in connection with a case involving statutory rape of a person under the age of 15.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Michael Dodd of Jacksonville on Tuesday, September 8 for several count of sex offenses involving a minor child.

The Sheriff’s Office says the charges stem from incidences that were recently reported to authorities. Dodd is charged with two Counts of Statutory Rape/Sex Offense, three Counts of Statutory Sexual Offense, and five counts of Indecent liberties with a child.

Dodd is a registered sex offended. He was placed in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $120,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for September 9.

The NC Department of Public Safety Offender Search states that Dodd was previously convicted of separate charges of Indecent Liberties with a Child in May, 2006 for which he was given probation.
