The remains of a shipwreck have been exposed in Surf City, according to town officials.

Officials said that on Monday afternoon, they saw the remains of William H. Sumner 150 yards north of the old Barnacle Bill’s Pier in Surf City.

It usually uncovers once or twice a year, officials said.

“Please remember, shipwrecks are protected by the state, so removing or damaging the remains is a violation of state law,” officials said.
