Second suspect wanted in Kinston shooting turns self in

A second suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting reported in Kinston on February 4 has turned himself in to police.

The Kinston Police Department said that Nico Jones surrendered himself to police at the Lenoir County Courthouse on Friday around 2:30 p.m.

Jones will be sent to the Lenoir County Jail and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on February 11.


A Kinston man facing a first-degree murder charge has been arrested in Philadelphia.

Christopher Dixon was taken into custody by Philadelphia police and members of the USMS Violent Fugitive Task Force on Friday.

He is being charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Rasheem Thomas on February 4. 

Kinston police are still looking for Nico Jones, who is also being charged with murder in connection to the shooting and remains at large. 

In addition to the murder charge, Jones is also wanted for attempted murder, felony conspiracy, and assault with a deadly weapon from a November 5 shooting in Kinston.

The murder case remains under investigation.
