RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – Juwan Sims ran for 152 yards while Malik Sarratt threw a pair of touchdown passes to help Shelby beat Jacksonville Northside 28-6 on Saturday in the Class 2-AA North Carolina High School Athletic Association championship game.

Sims added a TD catch and was the game’s most valuable player for the Golden Lions (16-0), who won a fourth straight state title. Devin Gullatte also ran for two scores for Shelby, which led 21-0 by halftime. Shelby finished with 358 yards despite committing three turnovers.

Jonte McMullen threw for 226 yards and a touchdown to lead the Monarchs (12-4), who were in their first state title game. Northside committed four turnovers and managed just 29 yards rushing.

Shelby’s Jayden Borders also had 86 yards receiving and a touchdown, pushing him to more than 1,700 yards receiving on the season. He entered the game second all-time in NCHSAA history for career receiving yards.
