SNOW HILL, N.C. (WNCT) – A argument over a car led to a man shooting and killing two of his family members Tuesday night, according to Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith.

Myles Jefferson Duggins, 20, has been charged with two open counts of murder and the theft of a motor vehicle.

Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith said deputies responded to a call in reference to two subjects shot on Davis Grove Church Rd around 5:30 Tuesday night.

There, they found 68-year-old Johnny Boy Jefferson, Duggin’s grandfather, suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Duggin’s 6-year-old cousin Isaiah Thomas Hill was also shot and taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. He would have turned 7 next month.

Sheriff Lemmie Smith said Duggins shot Jefferson and Hill after an argument over Jefferson’s car turned violent.

Duggins lived at the home, and the shooting happened in the backyard of the house.

After the shooting, Smith said Duggins stolethe car and fled to Raleigh. Duggins was taken into custody by Raleigh police a few hours later.

Smith said during questioning Duggins admitted to the shootings and showed no remorse. Duggins did not have a criminal background, and there were no calls to the house prior to Tuesday night.

He’s being held at the Greene County Detention Center under no bond.
