Sheriff’s office says body found in Rocky Mount identified as missing man

NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT)- The Nash County Sheriff’s Office says a body found in the 4900 block of Redman Road is identified as a Rocky Mount man reported missing since August 3rd.

Sheriff Keith Stone says 23-year-old Brandon Smith, of Rocky Mount, was reported missing earlier this month after no one had seen or heard from him. 

An autopsy was performed to make a positive identification and determine how Smith died.

The North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office indicated the determination on the cause and manner of death is pending completion of the full autopsy including lab results.

No foul play is suspected.

The investigation is ongoing.
