Shots fired call leads to arrest in New Bern

NEW BERN, NC (WNCT) – Early Saturday morning, New Bern police responded to a shots fired call at the 1100 block of Church Street. The shots fired struck an occupied dwelling and a parked vehicle, but no injuries were reported.

New Bern Police say a tan vehicle was seen leaving the area.

The driver of the vehicle, 22 year old Jamari F. Dexter of New Bern, was arrested. Dexter was charged with flee/elude arrest, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and aggressive driving. He was transported to Craven County Confinement and placed under a $15,000 bond. Dexter is a person of interest in the shots fired call.

New Bern police tell WNCT the investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests and charges may be forthcoming.
