WARSAW, N.C. (WNCT)- The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports they’ve arrested Omar Acuna in connection to a murder in Mount Olive earlier this month.

On Monday, detectives with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a possible location of Acuna. They then headed to Duplin County and met up with other law enforcement officers. A briefing was held before the officers went to the 700 block of Revelle Rd. in Warsaw.

Upon arrival, the officers announced their identity. Someone inside the home came outside and met with the officers. This occupant identified himself as Patrick White and, when asked, he told the officers that another person named Wilburn was inside the home.

Patrick White allowed the officers into his home and, upon entry, the officers located the murder suspect in a bed. When the murder suspect observed the officers entering, the suspect grabbed a .45 caliber handgun from under his pillow.

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team immediately stopped the threat and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The weapon was also seized and is being held as evidence in this case.

Acuna was transported to Wayne County to be interviewed by detectives. After being interviewed, he was taken to the Wayne County Detention Center where he received no bond for the charge of murder.

During Acuna’s arrest, evidence was seen in plain view, which led Duplin County authorities to charge 34-year-old Patrick White of Warsaw with Harboring a Fugitive from Justice and Accessory after the fact to Murder. He was taken to the Duplin County Detention Center where he received a $50,000.00 bond.

Assisting in the arrest of both subjects were: Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Drug Squad, Duplin County Sheriff’s Office SRT Team, NCSBI Fugitive Task Force and DEA.
