Southside hosts Northside in Anchor Bowl for this week’s Backyard Brawl


CHOCOWINITY, N.C. (WNCT)- The Southside Seahawks played host to the Northside Panthers Friday night as both teams battled for their annual Anchor Bowl.

Southside, looking to keep the Anchor Trophy for the second year in a row, got off to a quick start. Running back Matt Baxter dodges the Panthers and runs one in to put the first points on the board.

The Jaguars looked to answer back. Northside quarterback Jackson Midgette throws one deep, buts it’s picked off. Zikajah Crawford with the interception.

Then later in the first, Johnny Sullivan with the quarterback keeper. He runs it all the way in for a Seahawks touchdown. Southside up 14-0 at the end of the first.

Later in the fourth, running back Lawrence Brown breaks away and goes all the way for another Seahawks touchdown.

Southside wins the Anchor Bowl 44-8.
