RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCT) – Republican candidate Chuck Stuber has conceded the state auditor’s race to Democratic incumbent Beth Wood.
In a news release, Stuber said, “The statewide recount is almost over, and it appears my campaign will come up short on the vote count. I want to offer my congratulations to State Auditor Beth Wood and wish her the best on her next term in office.”
Stuber had asked for a recount after trailing Wood by just 6,000 votes.
The State Board of Elections was delaying certifying races for state auditor until after receiving recounted results.
