GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT)- Over 500,000 people in North Carolina have health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. The Supreme Court decision to keep healthcare subsidized means all of those people can continue to get covered.
Brittany Daniels, is insured under the Affordable Care Act and says, “i just feel like if it wasn’t affordable then how are we going to go see our doctors. It’s really a blessing that we can still have our healthcare at an affordable price.”
If the decision did not happen, North Carolina would have to re-visit their current laws. In the process of making those decisions, thousands of people would be without insurance.
Dr. John Morrow, a physician with the Pitt County Health Department, believes the Affordable Care Act is a step in the right direction, but doesn’t ensure the improvement of the nation’s overall health.
“Healthcare does not necessarily equate to good health,” Dr. Morrow said.
According to Dr. Morrow, healthcare is a vital part in making America a more perfect union. The decision also stated that people can continue to get covered regardless of their medical history.
