Suspect in deadly hit and run turns self in


A man turned himself in to police for a deadly hit and run that occurred near Ward Boulevard on June 23.

Efrain Yanez, 59, of Rocky Mount, was charged with hit and run and death by motor vehicle.

On Friday, the Wilson Police Department arrested Yanez in connection to a hit and run that resulted in the death of Raymundo Orozco.

Yanez turned himself into investigating officers.

The vehicle that was involved in the accident was located, police said.

He was given a $3,000 bond. 


The Wilson Police Department is trying to locate a vehicle in connection to a deadly hit and run that occurred Saturday morning.

Police have identified the suspect vehicle as a white 2003-2005 Buick Rendezvous.

The vehicle is missing the driver’s side headlight, police said.

The picture showed is similar to the suspect vehicle.

The STEP Team is investigating the accident.

The Wilson Police Department is investigating a deadly hit and run that happened Saturday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the 5800 block of Ward Boulevard shortly after 2:15 a.m.

When they arrived on scene, they found 34-year-old Raymundo Orozco severely injured and not breathing.

Officers tried to revive Orozco, but were unsuccessful.

Witnesses told investigators that Orozco was struck by a white vehicle traveling north on Ward Boulevard.

Police are searching the the white 4-door vehicle that is possibly a Toyota.

The vehicle will have significant front and front driver’s side damage, and the driver’s side headlight will be destroyed.
