GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The Brody School of Medicine is receiving national attention after being one of seven schools in the world to be awarded an Aspire to Excellence Award.
Brody won the social accountability category, which judges schools based on how well they meet the local health needs.
School leaders said winning the award means a lot.
“This is the opportunity to bring international focus to the quality of the educational program that we have here at Brody. And the second is to further strengthen the program,” said Dr. Robert Carroll, the Associate Dean for Medical Student Education.
Carroll said the process to apply was long, and it allowed them to gather information from all different sections of the school, which showed where they could improve.
Carroll will travel with other school representatives to Spain in August to receive the award.
Aspire to Excellence is an international program that focuses and school’s missions and teaching and learning programs. Over the past four years, only 25 schools have been recognized with the award.
