The development of youth baseball in the east

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – From little league to the college level, baseball is thriving in the east.

Greenville once again played host to a handful of premier regional youth baseball tournaments this summer.

And the East Carolina Pirates ended the 2015-2016 season nationally ranked.

But what about the years in between? What’s the best course of action for youth baseball players to succeed and develop in the sport?

High school and legion programs are still vibrant across the east. But, showcase teams are gaining in popularity and notoriety.

Showcase teams provide unique exposure to their athletes with college coaches and scouts regularly attending their contests.

But this competitive, talent-rich atmosphere often has side effects.
