Tips on getting that summer time job; It’s not too late

Area high schools and colleges are done for the school year, leaving lots of kids with free time on their hands.

 If you or your looking for a summer job, don’t worry employers all around the area are still looking for help.

     ECU Career Services says to you the resources available for job postings.

     Some of the best sites to use for our area are ‘Better Greenville Jobs’ and Indeed.

     Make sure you have your materials prepared as well

     Get your resume together and make sure you fill out the application to the fullest extent.

If possible. find something related to your long term career goals.

     For example, if you want to work in hospitality, find a job at a hotel.

     Make sure you’re networking with your peers and parents to find out where are hiring and do you have a connection in.

     “Always when you’re going there for the first time whether it’s for an interview or hand in an application I’d say dress professionally,” said Patrick Roberts of ECU Career Services.

“Make sure that you’re showing the employer that you’re taking it seriously.”

     One thing career services say not to do is lie on your resume.

     This can lead to under-performing on your job and possible ramifications.

     One important note is to follow up after an interview or meeting and always follow up with a thank you.
