Two inmates at Pasquotank Correctional Institution are recovering following separate altercations with other inmates involving homemade weapons on Wednesday.
Officials with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety said the first altercation happened around 1:10 p.m. after an inmate was assaulted by another inmate with a homemade weapon. The inmates’ injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The second incident happened at 5:18 p.m after another inmate was assaulted by another inmate with a homemade weapon. The injured inmate was transported to outside medical, where he was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
He was released back to the facility following treatment.
No staff or other offenders were injured during both incidents. Both incidents are under investigation.
