Two Onslow County residents face multiple drug charges after investigators found heroin in their vehicle and home.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit began an investigation earlier this year after receiving tips about a man that was allegedly selling heroin in the Verona area.
On March 31, investigators conducted a traffic stop on Thomas Walter Spivey, 30, of Courie Way in Jacksonville, who resisted arrest after (1) gram of heroin, (5) bindles of heroin, (6.3) grams of marijuana, $1,125 in US currency and assorted drug paraphernalia were found in his vehicle. Spivey tried to drive off but was arrested after a short struggle with deputies.
The Drug Enforcement Unit then executed a search warrant at Spivey’s home, where they found and seized an additional 17.6 grams of heroin, $73,245 in US currency, and various drug paraphernalia.
Spivey, was taken into custody and arrested on the following charges:

Manufacture Heroin by Re-Packaging
Felony Conspiracy

Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance
Possession of Alprazolam
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
\Resist/Obstruct/Delay Law Enforcement Officer
Spivey is being held in the Onslow County Detention Center on a $70,000 bond.
Charlie Christina Garten, 29, of Sandhill Road in Sneads Ferry, was in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop and was also taken into custody and arrested. Her charges include:

Felony conspiracy
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Garten is being held in the Onslow County Detention Center on a $65,000 bond.
