Two taken to hospital after head-on collision in Vanceboro


VANCEBORO, N.C. (WNCT) – One person was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with serious injuries after a head-on collision in Vanceboro Tuesday morning.

Highway Patrol Troopers say a Chevrolet Metro was traveling west on NC 118 from Vanceboro when the driver crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Surburban traveling east. The driver of the Metro, 35-year-old Jeremy Kirby, was transported to Vidant Medical Center.  The driver of the Suburban, 39-year-old Bradley Reynolds, was taken by ambulance to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern.

Crews say the road was temporarily closed until the vehicles could be towed out.  NC 118 was back open by 8 a.m.

This wreck is still under investigation.
