UPDATE: A girl who was reported missing last week in Pitt County has been found and is safe, according to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release sent Tuesday, deputies said 15-year-old Zykira Highsmith, who went missing on April 1 from the Bell Arthur area, was found Monday and is now safe at home and doing well.
Investigators said no criminal charges have been filed against anyone in this case.
The Sheriff’s Office said it will not release any additional details on how Highsmith went missing or where she was found, to respect the privacy of her family.
The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to find a teenage girl who went missing on Monday from the Bell Arthur area.
Investigators say 15-year-old Zykira Highsmith was last seen early in the morning on Monday, April 1st, in the Bell Arthur community, just west of Greenville, in Pitt County
Zykira is described as an African-American female, 5’6” tall, weighing 112 pounds, with hair that has long, burgundy-colored braids. Her current clothing description is unknown.
Deputies believe Zykira may be with an African-American male teen, possibly by the name of Isaiah Johnson.
Johnson is described as being 5’6” tall, weighing 125 pounds, with an afro hair style.
The teens’ last known direction of travel is unknown.
Zykira has been entered into the national NCIC database.
