GREENVILLE, N (WNCT)- The Lenoir County Board of Elections wrapped up a recount for the Grifton Town Commissioner race on Tuesday.
The board did not find any changes in the ballot totals.
On Monday, the Pitt County Board of Elections conducted a recount. There were three seats open, and the third place candidate only won by three votes.
When someone wins by less than one percent, candidates are allowed to call for a recount. Mary Newton Moore asked for one. She was one of the winners on the Lenoir County side, but not Pitt County and not overall.
The Pitt County Board of Elections hand counted the ballots, but found no change in the results. Pitt County Director of Elections, Dave Davis, says recounts don’t usually change the results.
Grifton is in both Lenoir and Pitt Counties, so both jurisdictions had to recount votes.
