GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – The fight over the controversial voter ID law may not only impact whether you show identification at the poll.

Election reform group Democracy North Carolina is concerned the fight over the law is distracting people from other potential problems at the polls.

Nearly half of the 6.6 million registered voters in the state live in precincts with at least 3,000 voters. The group fears without a full 17 day early voting schedule, lines at the polls on election day would be extremely long.

In some case, they believe people would have to wait hours before voting.
