Voting turnout in Pitt County tops 70,000

WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – More than 70,000 people had already voted in Pitt County as of 4 p.m.

One of the busiest locations was the Winterville north precinct where over 70 percent of registered voters had cast a ballot.

First-time voter Isaiah Streeter gave his take on the voting turnout.

“I figured more people would come out around this time, but they didn’t,” Streeter said.

Voter Cedric Jenkins said it was important to make his voice heard.

“If you don’t vote your opinion doesn’t matter,” Jenkins said. “People back in the days couldn’t vote, so they fought so we could vote.”

9OYS went around to a few voting locations in Pitt county this afternoon, and things seemed to be flowing well.

7:30 is the deadline, and voters must be in line by then.
