A Carteret County school teacher is leaving the school year in style. A West Carteret High School educator was named the county’s Teacher of the Year and awarded a new set of keys.
Lindsey Howell was handed a set of keys to a new white Chevrolet Friday afternoon.
She was one of many honorees from the county to be recognized at the employee of the year luncheon.
Colleagues describe her as a leader, a strong student advocate, and a team player.
Howell said she doesn’t know what set her apart from others, but believes it was due to those before her.
“I know that I do a good job, but I know there are so many other teachers in this community that do a phenomenal job because I teach the students that they taught,” said Howell.
Winners are nominated by their colleagues and selected by a panel of people.
Howell will have use of the car for one year at no cost.

Amanda Waltrip -Tim Hudson Painting Classified Employee of the Year
