Williamston community holds vigil for double homicide victims

WILLIAMSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – The mother and daughter victims of a Martin County double homicide were honored Saturday by friends and family.

The family of the two women held a vigil.

“Dawn loved her babies so much and was a wonderful mom,” described Kelly Connors, the victim’s cousin. Dawn Boswell was a mother, daughter, and a friend, who Connors described as a wonderful mom.

Dawn’s daughter Taylor Carroll was a daughter, student, and a friend. Her friend Allison Bowen described her as loving and always had a smile on her face.

The mother-daughter duo were described as inseparable and twins.

“They were so close! They loved each other so much,” said Taylor’s friend Ireland Haltigan

There wasn’t a dry eye at Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church in Williamston, as people who knew them, shared memories. One by one, family and friends told stories of who they were and how they lived.

Kelly Connors said, even though she works in law enforcement, finding out about their deaths is something she wasn’t prepared for .

“I’ve seen a lot! I’ve investigated a lot. I’ve done a lot of death notifications, but calling my aunt and telling her that her daughter and granddaughter were deceased and had been located, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do,” Connors explained. She said the family is finding peace knowing, justice will be served. “Not knowing why they would choose to do this makes it harder. And those are questions we may never have answers to. But to know it’s somebody that at one point she trusted and loved makes it harder.”

On Monday, Bear Grass Charter School will hold a ceremony for Dawn and Taylor.

At this time no funeral arrangements have been made.
