GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Deputies say they arrested a Greenville man and Grifton man for dealing drugs from the Smoke Smart Store in Winterville.

About a month ago, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office got a tip that it was happening. Investigators who follow-up up on the tip say the Smoke Smart Store was being used as a central hub for distributing illegal narcotics.

20-year-old Dannie Eric Webb, Jr. of Greenville, an employee/clerk of the store, was identified by investigators to be aiding in the Distribution of Marijuana, and THC Wax (THC is the primary cannabinoid, or psychoactive substance, found in the cannabis plant). Webb was charged with (F) Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, 2 counts, and (F) Maintaining Dwell/Veh/ Place for CS, 2 counts. He was placed in Pitt County Detention Center under a $7,500 secured bond. Webb has since bonded out.

21-year-old Hayden Robert Edwards of Grifton, not an employee of the store, was also found to be selling illegal drugs from inside the store. Edwards was charged with (F) PWIMSD Marijuana, 2 Counts, (F) Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, 3 Counts, (F) Maintaining Dwell/Veh/Place for CS, 3 Counts. He’s in the PCDC under a $15,000 secured bond.

The Narcotics Unit conducted a Takedown Operation at Smoke Smart on Thursday, January 14th.  During a search at the store both Webb and Edwards were found in possession of Marijuana and THC Wax.
