Woman arrested on drug charges after reckless driving on U.S. 64

A woman was arrested Sunday night on drug charges after reckless driving on U.S. 64 East of Columbia. 

Tanisha Brickhouse, 28, of Elizabeth City, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintain a vehicle for controlled substances, careless and reckless driving, driving while license revoked, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office said they stopped Brickhouse for speeding 90MPH in a 55MPH zone.

An odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle, deputies said.

Deputies searched Brickhouse’s vehicle and found 11.3 grams of marijuana, 5.0 grams of powder cocaine and 2.1 grams of crack cocaine.

The powder cocaine was in 16 individual baggies and the crack cocaine was in 7 individual baggies.

Brickhouse was sent to the Dare County Detention Center and was given a $32,000 bond.
