Children’s Home Society of North Carolina hosts several Match Events throughout the year in different locations throughout the state.
Once parents and families have successfully gone through the training and adoption process, they can attend the events.
WNCT’s Angie Quezada attended a Match Event in Greenville and met the Loren and Asenath Lawton; a young couple and a family of four, looking to adopt a child. They shared their personal experience with the event and their hope for other parents thinking to do the same.
“I’m really glad that they do match events because when we went last week, and meeting the girl there, in physical instead of just on paper, makes a huge difference. Seeing her interact with other kids, helps me know how she would interact with my own children. It was huge,” says Asenath Lawton.
Scott Brown is the state’s Southeast Program Director and breaks down why events like CHSNC’s Match event are so valuable.
9 On Your Side e also had the opportunity to sit down with 13-year-old Alexis, and 16-year-old Caroline to hear their thoughts on the event, and what they hope for.
