Police have arrested three people involved in a Kinston fatal shooting reported Thursday afternoon.
The Kinston Police Department with assistance from the USMS Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Dantravelle Shackleford during a traffic stop Friday around 12:45 a.m.
Officials said that Shackleford was found hiding in the trunk of the vehicle.
He was sent to the Lenoir County Jail without a bond.
Officials made additional arrests in the case.
Sandra Johnson, who was inside the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop, was charged with accessory after the fact of the murder and misdemeanor child abuse.
According to a release, a child who was under Johnson’s care was a passenger in the vehicle.
She was sent to the Lenoir County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
Chipel Lisbon was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
The vehicle stopped at the traffic stop was operated by Lisbon.
He was sent to Lenoir County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another injured in Kinston Thursday afternoon.
The Kinston Police Department responded to multiple calls of two people being shot in the area of the 300 block of North Orion Street on Thursday shortly after 3:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation showed that two men were shot while in the front yard of 306 North Orion Street.
Jonathan Simmons, 41, who resides at the residence, was transported to Vidant Medical Center by EMS personnel for treatment.
Rashawn Franklin, 24, of Kinston, died at the scene, police said.
According to police, the suspect(s) fled the area.
