A school janitor in Edgecombe County was charged for having a loaded gun in his car at the school after he allegedly threatened staff there.
According to Edgecombe County Sheriff Cleveland Atkinson Jr., on Monday, March 18, Corporal R. Dozier II was working as a School Resource Officer at Southwest Edgecombe High School, when school staff told him Jerome Faison Jr, a custodian there, was threatening other staff and possibly had a gun.
Corporal Dozier questioned Faison and got consent to search Fasion’s vehicle, where Cpl. Dozier found a loaded handgun.
Faison was arrested and charged with Weapon on Educational Property and Carry Concealed Weapon.
He appeared in Edgecombe County Magistrate Court, where he was given a $5,000 bond and was released.
Sheriff Atkinson says he applauds school staff and Corporal Dozier for taking quick action and resolving the incident safely.
