A South Carolina man was arrested after deputies say he drove on the wrong side of the road at 100 MPH during a police chase in Onslow and Carteret counties on Sunday.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office says at 4 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road at a high speed near Piney Green Road and Freedom Highway.
A deputy found the vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Northeast Creek Bridge at speeds of over 80 MPH.
The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, which refused to stop, and, at one point, slowed down and tried to hit the deputy’s vehicle.
Several other deputies joined the chase as the driver entered Swansboro at 100 MPH, still driving on the wrong side of the highway. Swansboro Police then joined the pursuit, which continued into Carteret County, where Carteret County Sheriff’s Office joined and Onslow County deputies stopped pursuing the suspect.
Carteret County Sheriff’s deputies deployed stop sticks near Morehead City, where the suspect was eventually stopped. The driver, Trevor Tyrode Wallace, 20, of Edgefield Drive in Summerville, S.C., was arrested and taken back to Onslow County.
