Onslow County man sentenced for 2018 armed robbery at store in Maysville

A Hubert man was sentenced Tuesday on charges for robbing a Maysville store at gunpoint in 2018.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office says Jack Joseph Pekkala II, age 28, of Quail Point Drive, was arrested in March 2018 for robbing the Moe’s Mart on Swansboro Belgrade Road.

He pled guilty on Tuesday to all charges and was sentenced to 120-156 months (10-13 years) in Superior Court on June 11, 2019.

The vehicle used in the robbery, a Hyundai Tucson had been reported stolen from Cedar Point on March 5, 2018, and was found burned in the Croatan National Forest.

The investigation led deputies to arrest Jack Joseph Pekkala II. Pekkala, 28-years-old of Quail Point Drive in Hubert was arrested by Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Detectives on March 26, 2018, without incident.

Pekkala II was charged with: Robbery with a Firearm/Dangerous Weapon, Second Degree Kidnapping, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.
