FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville police have made an arrest after a man was found dead on the side of the road Friday morning.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Andy Street just before 8 a.m. about a death investigation after a passerby found a man unresponsive on the side of the road. Upon arrival, police pronounced the man dead.

Police have arrested and charged 47-year-old Safornia Faulkner of Gaveston Drive with voluntary manslaughter. Faulkner is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $250,000 secured bond.

According to police, Faulkner assaulted the victim with her car, a Honda Civic, during an altercation. Faulkner and the victim were involved in a relationship for a number of years.

Police said the man’s body was sent to the medical examiner’s office to determine his cause of death, but at this time, it appears to have been a hit-and-run.

Anyone with information regarding the traffic crash is asked to contact Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (910) 433-1807 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
