WILLIAMSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — The Martin County Schools Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent David Fonseca during a work session Monday.
The resignation is effective Aug. 14.
Fonseca has been superintendent since the start of the 2020 school year. His previous work includes serving as assistant superintendent for Watauga County Schools and assistant superintendent of Instructional Services for Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. He has served also served as a principal, assistant principal and teacher in other school systems such as Catawba, Gaston, Lincoln and Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
The Martin County Schools system said the school board will begin its search for a replacement immediately.
