An event at A.G. Cox Middle School in Winterville held an event to create an open dialogue about cyberbullying Monday night.

Teachers, parents, and students were able to watch a documentary on how cyberbullying is a growing trend and reaching younger students.

Deb Pomery is the SADD coordinator for Pitt County Schools and said it can be difficult for parents to keep up with their child’s digital footprint.

Pomery said, “Teenagers, if they want to share something with you they are very willing but if they are trying to find or use something they know their parents wouldn’t approve of they are pretty good at being able to hide that.”

If you find it difficult to start a conversation about cyberbullying with your child there are several resources.
