East Carolina concluded another successful “Mustache March” with the big shave off on Monday afternoon at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
All-purpose standout Alec Burleson had the best mustache on the team, featuring his large mutton chops as his sideburns. Shortstop Turner Brown once again had the worst mustache for the month, all in good fun.
“Mustache March” is a fundraiser for the ALS Association. Former ECU coach Keith LeClair lost his battle with the disease back in 2006. Cliff Godwin, the current Pirate coach, played for Coach LeClair.
“It is the greatest of causes,” said Godwin. “The guys have a lot of fun with it.”
“I never played for Coach LeClair, but playing for Coach Godwin, you kind of feel his presence every day,” said Brown.
Memphis and Michigan baseball joined ECU in the fundraiser, which topped the 10 thousand dollar mark over the weekend.
