East Carolina swept today’s doubleheader at Memphis by identical 4-2 scores to sweep the American Athletic Conference series with the Tigers.
Freshman Alec Burleson got his first weekend start, giving up 2 runs in 4.1 innings. Davis Kirkpatrick picked up the win in relief, while Ryan Ross got the save.
In the second game, Bryant Packard extended his hitting streak to 17 straight games with three hits, including a home run as the Pirates completed the sweep.
Tyler Smith picked up the victory on the mound, allowing two runs on two hits in five-plus innings as he improved to 6-1.
