Spencer Brickhouse registered three hits, drove in two and reached base five times helping No. 10 ECU to a season series sweep over in-state rival UNC Wilmington, 5-4, Wednesday night at Brooks Field. With the win the Pirates improve to 35-12 on the year, while the Seahawks fall to 29-18.

How It Happened:
Trailing 3-0 after four frames, the Pirates scored five runs in the fifth taking their first lead of the contest and held on for a 5-4 win. With two runners on, Brickhouse tripled down the right field line scoring Bryant Packard and Dwanya Williams-Sutton to pull within one, 3-2. Alec Burleson followed with an RBI base hit back up the middle that plated Brickhouse to knot the game at three-all. Three batters later, ECU pushed across two runs on a fielding error by Zack Canada off the bat of Turner Brown that allowed Nick Barber and Burleson to cross home. UNCW struck first on the night plating a pair of runs in the second inning for an early 2-0 lead. With runners on first and second, Levi Gesell singled to right field scoring Cole Weiss. After a walk to Noah Bridges loaded the bases, Ryan Jeffers drew his second walk of the evening scoring David Sheaffer. Wiess singled home the Seahawks third run of the game with a shot to right field in the third that pushed across Greg Jones from third for a 3-0 advantage. The Seahawks pulled within one, 5-4, in the seventh thanks to Kep Brown’s RBI single that scored Jeffers.

Pirate Pitchers:
Zach Barnes (2-0) allowed one run (earned) on two hits with a walk and three strikeouts to notch his second win of the season. Davis Kirkpatrick notched his second save of the year coming into the game in the ninth with runners on first and second with one out. The right-hander got Brown to fly out to center and struck out LP Oxendine to send the game. Starter Jake Agnos allowed two runs (both earned) on two hits with four walks and four strikeouts in two innings of work on a pre-determined outing. Ryan Ross (2.1 IP, 3 Hs, 1 R, 4 Ks) and Trey Benton (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K) bridged the gap between Barnes and Kirkpatrick.
