Former ECU football head coach, Scottie Montgomery has been hired as the Offensive Coordinator at the University of Maryland. Montgomery was fired from East Carolina before the final game of the 2018 season.
Montgomery joins first year head coach Michael Locksley in College Park. Maryland finished 5-7 last year after former head coach D.J. Durkin was fired following the death of Jordan McNair.
Mongomery finished just 9-26 during his three years as the Pirates head coach, failing to deliever on his promise of a bowl game apperance for ECU in 2018.
Before coming to Greenville, Montgomery previously served a three-year tenure on the Duke staff – the last two as the Blue Devils’ assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Prior to his second stint in Durham, he spent three seasons as wide receivers coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers after accepting his first collegiate position at his alma mater as receivers coach from 2006 to 2009.
Maryland opens the 2019 season at home against Howard University.
