The basketball teams from Greene Central and South Lenoir almost came to blows on Friday night.
Greene Central outscored South Lenoir 21-5 in the 4th quarter of Friday night’s 56-48 Rams win. After the game tempers flaired, but cooler heads prevailed and the teams were seperated.
The two teams cooled off over the weekend and agreed to meet to shake hands.
“You guys played a great game,” said South Lenoir Coach Jeremy Barnett. “This should have been done on Friday night. With that, we have great adminstrations and decided we needed to get it done today. We appreciate everything and y’all meeting us here and let’s do what should have been done.”
With that the two coaches shook and then the teams got together in what was a tremendous show of sportsmanship.
