Tournament of State Champions underway Friday in Greenville

GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – The Tournament of State Champions will host its opening ceremony Friday in Greenville at Elm Street Park.

Festivities are set to start at 6:30 p.m.

The Tournament of State Champions is an annual Little League baseball tournament held in Greenville. The 9-10 year old tournament will start on Saturday with the championship game on Wednesday, July 29.

On July 31, Greenville will host the same tournament for the 10-11 year-old state championship teams.

The qualifying state championship teams are from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.The state championship teams competing in the 9-10 tournament are:

Alabama – McCalla Little League

Florida – Plant City Little Leage

Georgia – Murphey Candler Little League (Brookhaven)

North Carolina – East Surry Little League (Pilot Mountain)

South Carolina – Irmo Little League

Tennessee – Tullahoma Little League

Virginia – Loudoun South Little League
