Louisville pitching coach Roger Williams knows all about East Carolina’s baseball program.
He was once a candidate to replace Billy Godwin at ECU. That job went to Cliff Godwin, while Williams stayed on to continue his success as the pitching coach at Louisville.
“It worked out for both of us,” said Williams. “Cliff Godwin is a great coach and has done amazing things at ECU.”
Williams knows a thing or two about the Pirates. His Dad, George Williams was once the head coach at ECU. Roger was a pitching coach for then ECU Coach Gary Overton.
“I’m really proud of how Greenville is a baseball town,” said Williams on the day before his Cardinals take on ECU in the NCAA Super Regionals. “Greenville is home. It will always be home.”
